Reiki is an alternative healing therapy discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui of Taniai-mura, currently known as Miayama in the Kyoto Prefecture of Japan. From an early age Mikao studied Buddhist texts in a Tendai Buddhist monastery school. He was also a student of several martial arts, medicine, psychology, theology, and divination. 
 
Later in his life he became a Tendai Buddhist Monk/Priest. One of his students asked Dr. Usui how Jesus facilitated miracle healings. Little did he know that question would set him on a journey to discover the healing power of reiki. 
 
Dr. Usui regularly fasted and meditated to attain high leveled altered states of consciousness. During his quest to discover how Jesus healed others, he traveled to the holy mountains of Kori Yama and on the 21st day of his meditation he began to become frustrated. In that moment a surge of energy radiated from his head, heart, and throughout his body as the symbols used in reiki flashed through his mind. It was in that moment the healing system of reiki was manifested on Earth. 
 
Dr. Usui returned to the monastery and spent three days teaching others what he had learned. Then he decided to visit the slums of Kyoto and spent seven years helping the homeless while healing various illnesses and awakening individuals to their true nature – bliss. Dr. Usui dedicated his life to teaching people how to heal themselves and to help others. 
 
Reiki is a form of energy healing utilizing a human’s capability of channeling source energy (unconditional love & bliss). That flows through one’s crown, heart, and the hands, radiating from the body. It is a treatment that works holistically on the whole body, mind, and spirit. Reiki can help accelerate the healing process of an individual, alleviate pain, and bring about peace and well-being reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. 
 
This may be hard for some to believe but reiki’s electrical and magnetic qualities that radiate off the human body can and has been measured. Ampere’s Law, one of the most basic laws of physics, states when electric currents flow through conductors like wires or living tissue it conducts electricity which results in a magnetic field around the body known as the biomagnetic field. To some the biomagnetic field of a human being is known as an aura. The biomagnetic field can be measured with techniques including MEG (Magnetoencephalography) and MCG (Magnetocardiography). 
 
The human body naturally produces electromagnetic fields (biomagnetic fields). When a human uses reiki the electromagnetic field of that person expands and the flow of ions throughout the cells of the body increases as does his/her energy.
 
What is occurring internally to the applier of reiki is applied to the individual receiving it through the exchange of frequency/energy via electromagnetic fields. This can be explained through the phenomena of resonance, the amplification of a frequency when introduced to another.  
 
Compassion and loving energy amplifies the bodies natural electromagnetic field. This is due to the heart generating a bio-electric field that is about 100 times stronger than the brain. The brain is able to project about 15 feet. This means a heart that is full of compassion and bliss are able to resonate at 1,500 feet! To put that in perspective that is 37 ½ mass transit busses!!

We have the power to influence the world. If only we are ready to awaken to our true nature as healers. For we must heal ourselves, to help others, and in turn heal the Earth.
